Border Force is a part of the Home Office, responsible for frontline border control operations at air, sea and rail ports in the United Kingdom. The force was part of the now defunct UK Border Agency from its establishment in 2008 until Home Secretary Theresa May demerged it in March 2012 after severe criticism of the senior management.

Around 16 million visitors and migrants arrving at airports across Britain will no longer be required to fill in the paper form including details about their place of birth, profession and reason for their stay. And instead the Home Office has said the archaic process is being replaced by a digital system to make it easier for passengers to get through the airport. The move is designed to save the Government £3.6million a year and speed people through the airport security process. However critics blasted the move and questioned the loss of valuable intelligence of people coming to and from Britain after it emerged new digital information on arrivals may not be provided until the end of the year.
